A Night of Hoops

Theres a night of basketball ahead for some of the teams in the Big 12, starting with Kansas State taking on Presbyterian at Fred Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan. The Wildcats remain undefeated so far this season and Presbyterian is 0-1. The points leaders for the two teams are Jacob Pullen the Senior for K-State averaging 16.5 points per game, and Junior Center Al'Lonzo Coleman for Presbyterian averaging 17.0 points. Coleman will be competing against Rodney McGruder in the rebounds. McGruder averages 8.5 rebounds per game while Coleman usually gets around 6.0 rebounds per game. "We are not going to go out and do cartwheels because we won a game in November," said K-State coach Frank Martin as reported on ESPN. Martin also said that these past few games have been great learning experiences for both the team and the coaches.

Besides the Wildcats, the No. 22 Longhorns are up at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY to take on No. 16 ranked Illinois. Both teams have yet to lose and have nothing to lose. When comparing stats, both teams are almost evenly matched, which makes for some of the most exciting college basketball in the nation. From the Texas standpoint, Hamilton leads in points per game with 22.5, while the Fighting Illini, are lead by Demetri McCamey averaging 14.7 points per game. The most crucial key for the Longhorns is to stop the Illini's D.J. Richardson who took fire with three three pointers in ninety seconds against the Souther Illinois Salukis in their last game. Meanwhile Texas is desperately trying to comeback this season after their heartbreaking loss last year in the big dance to Wake Forest in the first round. More to come on these games later.

Finishing out this post, we focus Baylor, taking on Jackson State, No. 14 Missouri hosting Western Illinois and the Nebraska Corn Huskers face Vanderbilt on ESPNU. In Oklahoma, both the Sooners and the Cowboys will play. Texas Southern heads to Oklahoma and Gambling State travels to Oklahoma State.
